The Hike at Meadow Music with Jeff and Paige
Meadow Music with Jeff and Paige is a concert at the base of the Chautauqua Flatirons in the big green park. It is held in the wide open green space in front of the Chautauqua Dining Hall. The event begins with a hike on the McClintock Trail. Here is where Jeff & Paige announce the Color of the Day, which children should look for along the trail. This activity encourages the children to interact and connect with the environment around them. The hike itself is easily completed by kids of all ages. Rangers along the trail direct where to go, as well as point out what poison ivy looks like. At the cumulation of the hike everyone gathers and signs the song to call out the mascot of the day, either a mule deer, cyoyte or the black bear. All of the children rush to hug the animal of the day, again connecting them with the trail, hike and nature. This time on an emotional level.
The Concert at Meadow Music with Jeff and Paige
After the hike everyone heads back to hear Jeff and Paige’s funtastic, environmentally friendly music! Parents gather on blankets in the green open space and pull out the picnics for their families. The children rush to the stage to gather at Jeff and Paige’s feet like a proper rock concert. The music starts and the children start dancing! They might run back to the blankets for a snack, to play with friends and to again join in the music. Of course Jeff and Paige keep the kids engaged by singing fun songs and acting out the songs using props and costumes. This can be quite silly, creative and loads of fun. The Open Space and Mountain Parks staff help Meadow Music with Jeff and Paige perform the music by also dressing up in costumes and running through the crowd.
