Donation to the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless

boulder shelter for the homelessThe buyers of 339 Bobolink in Louisville, Colorado know how tough it can be living on the streets. Because of this they used their non-profit donation from the close of a real estate transaction for the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless.

Their mission is to provide shelter, food, and support for the homeless. They also offer a pathway to self-sufficiency for the homeless adults. They believe that everyone should have the basic necessities of life, no matter the age, race, or wealth. The community this program lives in is called to serve this purpose.

In 1982 the Boulder Shelter for the Homeless was created due to the concern of a veteran who died of exposure in Boulder. For all the years this amazing program has been running it wasn’t and still isn’t run by the city or County of Boulder, but is a private non-profit corporation. They rely solely on the donations and support of those who refuse to stand by and watch people suffer on the sides of the streets.

When the corporation moved to 4869 North Broadway, the facility was designed and built to minimize the impact on the environment as well as operation costs. This building was one of the very first green-built shelters in the United States. The building features over 12 green, environmentally friendly benefits. Check out their website to see the list, and watch a movie on a tour of the building.
