7 Tips for the Snowy Season
The snow has finally come, and it’s not stopping any time soon. Here’s a few friendly tips to stay safe and warm during this snowy season we call winter.
- Make a
winter supply box for your car- High energy food
- Blankets
- Warm clothing
- Extra gloves
- Flashlight
- Road flares
- First-aid kit
- Extra ice-scrapper
- Have kitty litter or sand in your car
- You can use this if your car gets stuck in the snow. Put a little behind your back tires to give them some traction.
- Keep a shovel in your car
- Use this to dig your car and wheels out when it snows heavily while you’re away from your car. Be considerate of where you are throwing the snow though.
- Check your engine coolant, antifreeze, and wiper fluid levels
- This will insurance a better and safer drive; it’ll keep your windshield clean and your engine from freezing.
- Dress as if you are to expect your car to break down
- You never know what could happen, and you don’t want to be stranded with no warm clothes.
- If you are walking outside at night, where something to contrast the colors of the snow
- This will help drivers see you better and avoid hitting you.
- Plan for a longer drive to everywhere
- With the snow, people and hopefully you, will be driving slower.
- If you park your car outside, plan extra time to scrap the snow off and to warm your car up. Try not to drive your car when it’s cold.
The winter time can be a very dangerous time for drivers. Even if you know how to drive in the snow, chances are that the person next to you, does not. Please stay warm and safe. Help your friends and loved ones as well.

Downtown Louisville Ice Skating Open
The Downtown Louisville Ice Skating Rink is now open! This a great place to take the kids to learn how to ice skate. Shoes are available to rent at the entrance. Note that this rink is more of a friendly, fun place to meet friends and play. It’s not big enough for ice hockey and they don’t have a Zamboni. That means the ice s a bit ruff and not ideal for pirouettes. But don’t let that stop you! Sometimes things that aren’t perfect are actually quite fun.
Downtown Louisville Ice Skating Rink is located at the Steinbaugh Pavilion. This area is transformed by Boulder Creek each season to become an outdoor ice skating rink! Its a small, informal space where you can enjoy outdoor fun throughout the winter months. Skating is open from November through February each year.

As you probably remember, last holiday season we held a family photoshoot with Santa. We then shared and sent out pictures to everyone who got their picture taken. This year we need your help to figure out if you would rather have a Halloween or Holiday themed family pictures.
For the Halloween theme, you would dress up in your family’s costumes and come take pictures with fun Halloween backgrounds. This would be fun, as most people don’t get family pictures of everyone in their awesome costumes. For the Holiday theme, you will have the chance to take a picture with or without Santa with a gorgeous backdrop of the holidays. This is fun, because you get to dress up and you will have a nice family picture to send out to the rest of your family.
Your input matters for the final decision. We would love to hear your input, so we can try to make everyone has happy as can be. Click here to take the survey. It is only one question, so it will take less than a minute. We greatly appreciate everyone’s opinion. If you have any questions regarding this please email leanne@trailridge.co.

Downtown Louisville Ice Skating

Want to have fun with your friends and family outside this winter? How about doing that without having to drive up I-70 to the mountains. Those of us in East County can enjoy ice skating outdoors in Downtown Louisville. It’s quick drive for some quality outdoor fun.
Our family went to the rink on one of the days off of school. We were not the only ones who had this brilliant idea. When we got there we found that the place was packed! Everyone was out on the ice having a grand time. Almost too much fun… with all the kids racing back and forth it was more a free-for-all. But life is like that with kids around anyway, and it makes things more fun. Plus, with everyone there we got the additional advantage of meeting up with our friends!
Note hat this rink is more of a friendly, fun place to meet friends and play. It’s not big enough for ice hockey and they don’t have a Zamboni. That means the ice s a bit ruff and not ideal for pirouettes. But don’t let that stop you! Sometimes things that aren’t perfect are actually quite fun.
The downtown Louisville Ice Skating Rink is the perfect outdoor winter activity for friends and family. Take a day off or go on the weekends and enjoy the amazing ice!
