Mila’s Miracle Team

Mila’s Miracle Team to Stop Batten

mila's miracle teamMila’s Miracle Team is a non-profit organization that was started to get the Boulder Community aware of their cause; which is to raise money for Batten disease research and clinical trails.  Mila’s Miracle Team’s ultimate goal is to raise $4M to halt degeneration in children facing Mila’s type of Batten, and work towards a cure.

Walk or run with Mila’s Miracle Team at the Bolder Boulder 10k – and with your help, they hope to raise $100K.  The dollars raised will go directly to the clinical trial they are starting aimed at saving the life of Mila and many other children like her.  Mila has lost her vision and much of her ability to walk and talk. Children like Mila deserve a second chance at life. Together, everyone can do their part in eliminating rare diseases that destroy millions of lives around the world.

About Batten Disease

Batten Disease is a rare neurodegenerative disease which leaves children blind, cognitively impaired, and unable to walk before they die at an early age.  There is no cure for this disease; however, recent clinical trials have started working towards halting or significantly slowing degeneration.  Gene therapy is the fastest and most cost-effective path to a cure, but this is not the only option available.  Batten Disease researchers are working with small molecular work as another option.  Roughly 14,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with this disease.  All funds will go towards research and a clinical trial for Mila’s variant of Batten.
