Boulder Colorado Nordic Club
The Boulder Nordic Club is located in the North Boulder Park in the heart of the Newland’s neighborhood. Each winter when there is enough snow the Boulder Nordic Club grooms the trails so that the community can enjoy local cross country skiing! Grooming takes place when there are sufficient amounts of snow. In the coldest parts of winter when the snow is light and fluffy there needs to be at least 5″ of snowfall for the club to be able to groom the trails. When we receive spring snows, which are by their nature more heavy and wet, there only needs to be about 3″ of snowfall for the club to bring out the grooming equipment. The Boulder Nordic Club’s website has up-to-date announcements about if grooming will take place. The Boulder Nordic Club depends on members to continue its operations. The grooming is done by volunteers who drive the grooming equipment. The contributions and membership helps to maintain the snowmobiles that are used throughout the years. Without the contributions the machinery would fall into disrepair. I love this impromptu Nordic ski location because it reminds me of being a surfer back in California! That is because when I was a surfer we would carry our gear to the beach, or drive it to our favorite local location. Then we would jump out, grab our boards and head to the beach for an hour of communing with nature while getting our exercise before going into work. That is exactly what happens here, but with skis. We drive or walk to this local ski area, grab our cross country ski equipment and head out to do a few laps before heading into the office. Living the dream!
