9 Outdoor Activities That’ll Get You Through Fall

mapletonWith kids heading back to school, and families settling back into a routine that involves staying closer to home, don’t think the outdoor fun is over just yet. With plenty of warm sunshine days ahead this fall, there are plenty of outdoor activities to carry you through until the snow arrives.

In addition to the usual outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and camping, Boulder County has plenty of fun ways to keep busy outdoors throughout the fall. Oktoberfest, triathlons, corn mazes, farmer’s markets, and free fly fishing classes will help keep you busy throughout our favorite season.

 

Fall Outdoor Activities:

  1. Boulder Fall Fest – September 16th, 17th, & 18th, 2016 (5pm – 10pm, 11am – 10pm, and 11am – 5pm respectively)
    The unofficial kickoff to fall happens this weekend! Enjoy live music, food, local brews, and plenty of children’s activities at this fun annual event.
  2. Oktoberfest Sprint Triathlon – September 25th at 8:00am
    Touted as the party of the year, this is a triathlon unlike any other. Complete with creative relay costumes and finish line rewards in true Oktoberfest fashion, this event promises fun for spectators and competitors alike!
  3. Go for a walk through the fall colors at some of our favorite spots:  Mapleton Hill, on the Mesa Trail, and Wonderland Lake
  4. Rock Creek Farms
    With more than 100 acres of pumpkins, a corn maze, and plenty of family fun this is one fall event you don’t want to miss. Bring the whole family for this fun day out in the fall sunshine! Conveniently located at Highway 287 and Northwest Parkway, they are open from September 24th through October 31st from 9am – 6:30pm daily.
  5. FREE fly fishing class with Front Range Anglers in Boulder
    Every Saturday from September 17th – October 29th, 2016.
  6. Farmer’s Markets
    Louisville Market goes through October 22nd.
    Boulder Markets go through October 22nd (Union Station) and November 19th (Arapahoe & Canyon).
    Longmont Market goes through November 19th.
  7. Green Beer Fest
    Benefiting the Colorado Ocean Coalition, this is a beer festival you can feel good about attending, instead of just leaving feeling good! October 1st and 2nd starting at 11am at 1212 Canyon Boulevard in Boulder.
  8. Halloween Pumpkin Patch at Cottonwood Farms
    With hay bale mazes, farm animals, hay rides and the best in fall produce, this is a one-of-a-kind fall festival. And admission is FREE! Bring the family out for a day of fun celebrating the changing of the seasons, and pick out the very best pumpkins for carving! Located at the corner of 75th & Arapahoe, they are open daily from September 24th through October 31st from 10am – 6pm.
  9. Art & Oktoberfest
    October 14th, 15, & 16th at Boulder’s Band Shell Central Park, this is one jam-packed weekend of fun and celebration for the entire family. With activities like arts & crafts, music, food, polka and a beer garden, it’s pretty hard to go wrong!
